Christmas Crafts for the Kids

It's time to cheer up and get festive! Go put on your Chritmas jumpers, fluffy socks and kids, lets get crafty, Christmas crafty!

Craft Sticks Christmas Tree Ornaments

You have your wrapped up presents, got your Christmas Eve boxes and only a few weeks before Christmas, you realise you've forgotten to decorate your 7ft Christmas tree! No fear you and your kids can make your own decorations! Here's what you'll need:

  • 3 Craft Sticks (one with about 1″ cut from the end of it)
  • 1” x 1” Brown card
  • A star cut from glittery card
  • A piece of twine, approximately 6″ long
  • Hot glue gun
  • Twine
  • Scissors (or a craft / utility knife)
  • Tiny Pom Poms

How To Make Them

First draw a star, I would recommend getting a star template off google, cutting it out then drawing around it on the glittery card. Cut the star out. Measure about 1” off one of the lollipop sticks, markit with a pencil, them get your crafting knife and go over the line to cut it. Once it’s weakened enough you should be able to bend it so it’d break.

Then get your hot glue gun and two normal sized lollipop sticks, glue them all together like a triangle with the cut stick at the bottom. Using roughly 6″ of twine for each of the hangers. Again using hot glue, glue them to the top of the triangle so they were sandwiched between the craft sticks.

Then use a little bit of hot glue to attach the star to the top and the 1″ x 1″ tree trunk to the bottom, it should now look like a Christmas tree and IT’S TIME TO DECORATE THE TREE! Get your pom poms and hot glue gun and glue the pom poms onto the Christmas tree and once it’s all dried you can hang them up on your real Christmas tree!

The Grinch Sweetie Jar

These are super fun and easy to make and you can use it as a gift for someone, put in your Christmas Eve box to snack on the night before Christmas or even decoration depending on what you put in there. You will need the following items:

  • Black permanent marker pen
  • Googly eyes
  • Regular glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • One strip of red felt (Cut out a line landscape so it’s long enough for the lid)
  • Clean jar or christmas bauble
  • Green sweets, either M&Ms, Smarties or possibly even Haribo sweeties, it’s completely up to you!

How To Steal This Present

Wash the jar making sure it's clean and dry it carefully making sure you do not break it. Then draw the Grinch's face onto the jar making sure everything is alined and perportions are correct, get your glue and googly eyes and stick them on the face just above the nose and once done pour your green sweeties carefully into the jar making sure they don't break.

Get your red felt, hot glue and lid of the jar, hot glue the red strip around the lid so it'll look like the Grinch's hat. Wait for it to dry and once dried you can scew the lid on and there you have it, your Grinch sweetie jar.

Candy Cane Heart Lollipops

These will impress anyone and you can use these as a Valentine’s Treat as well! You can gift these to your partner or parents or use them at a Christmas party, literally anything you want, and if the person doesn’t like white chocolate you can use milk or dark chocolate. You’ll need the following:

  • 4" or 6" Lollipop sticks
  • Mini candy canes
  • White chocolate
  • Sprinkles

The instructions are as follows:

  • Set out the lollipop sticks on a waxed or parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
  • Arrange the mini candy canes at the top of the sticks in the shape of hearts.
  • Preheat the oven to 300F and place the hearts in the oven for 3 minutes.
  • Pull them out, press the ends together and pull out the sides to make the heart shape.
  • Fill them with a few teaspoons of melted white chocolate.
  • Finish with coloured sprinkles.
  • Allow to set for at least 10 minutes.

These fun crafts should get you in the festive mood especially with Christmas tunes blasting and your children will be feeling Christmassy and you won’t be as Scroogey! These are all super cute, can work as gifts, they’re so easy to make and you can personalise it however you like. Now that you’re all done for the day why not put your pyjamas on, get those fluffy socks on, put the fire on or the heating, get the whole family and watch a Christmas film or Christmas episode of your favourite T.V show! I’ll be in my onesie, fire on and cuddling up next to my partner watching The Grinch then Elf!
